SERIES CHAISE-LONGUE

2016-2019

A chaise-longue, which Marcel Duchamp would have exiled from the painter´s work place, has found its way into Edmondson´s studio in Usera. Duchamp declared somewhere that the artist must rid him or herself from all such forms of traditional paraphernalia.

This exhibition for APERTURA MADRID is titled Chaise-longue and links the present with the past. Using quasi-figurative furnishings as a kind of subtle abbreviation for reclining Olympias, Majas, or Venuses, the past and referencies to it , become the painters ally.
